When Tania and Grant first reached out to me I definitely did a little happy dance because it was my first inquiry EVER for a wedding in Yosemite. Aka, one of my favorite places in California. As we got to know one another over the phone and via email and they told me what they envisioned for their upcoming nuptials I knew that it was a day I had to be a part of. What truly set Grant and Tania away from the crowd was the simple fact that they were planning a wedding that would be totally unique to them. It is easy to get married somewhere epic and look pretty doing so but planning something unique in the days of Instagram and Pinterest? That is a challenge!
Tania and Grant have been adventuring together for years, long before it was trendy. When they planned their wedding they wanted it to be in a place that was special to them so that they could share that magic with the people they love the most. Evergreen Lodge was the perfect setting, nestled just outside the Yosemite National Park entrance surrounded by mountains, evergreens, and a few bear- yes you read that right, bear friends. With activities planned all weekend including hikes (Grant’s thing), runs (Tania’s thing), and s’mores by the campfire Grant and Tania made sure everyone made the most of their time in Yosemite.
When I met Tania and Grant for the first time in real life for their engagement session in February they showed me the laser cut wood invitations and I believe I squealed out of pure joy, not even kidding. Between February and May Grant went WILD using their new laser cutter making ALL of the wedding decor himself. When they arrived at Evergreen they used ropes and hooks right out of their hiking gear to string up everything. Every little detail was perfectly them. This comes as no surprise though in all honesty because in their initial inquiry Tania told me how Grant who is an industrial designer, actually designed and made her engagement ring to look like a climbing knot.
