Fall 2016 Free People Kansas City | Lynn Magelli
I know that everyone thinks, “My best friend is literally the best human around.” Well I am sure your best friend is great and all, honestly. But you haven’t met my best friends. If you follow my work at all, you’ve seen all their faces a billion times. Since all my favorite ladies are spread out across the country it is so rare that I get to spend very much time with any of them. On a recent trip back to Kansas City the stars aligned and I got to spend one afternoon with three of the Midwest’s finest ladies and it has me feeling extra grateful for each of them. Hopefully one of these days I will get to photograph and feature all of them but for now here is this one.
I had honestly never met someone so genuine and kind in my life until the day my path crossed with hers. She doesn’t remember it but the first time we met, perfect strangers mind you, she came right up to me, all dread locks and bright pink lipstick, and said, “Your boots are rad. Your whole look is on point girl!”
I remember thinking, that girl is so nice, dang. Well, rare good fortune came my way and weeks later we were both working together at Urban Outfitters. Quite a few years later, we are a little wiser, our fashion choices a little less Urban Outfitters and a little more refined. She is now one of my favorite humans. Bonus points, she doesn’t mind me taking photographs of her literally whenever the heck I want. She is a little bit of joy that everyone needs in their life and I so lucky she is a part of mine.
Thank you for being the worlds greatest adventure partner, pizza eater, and inspiration a girl could ask for. I am done being gross now so you can go look at how rad she is. And if you haven’t recently, tell your best friends how much you like them because when you move to the other side of the country and have no one to hang with you will miss them lots.
