Last winter I attended my first workshop in Joshua Tree, California – Heck Yeah Photo Camp! HYPC was a week filled with inspiration, good vibes, and *bonus* so many new talented photographer friends. There were people at the workshop from all over the country and even one from South Africa – it was inspiring hearing about everyone else’s journey in photography, where they started, where they want to end up, seeing their work. At the time of the workshop I had only been a California resident for about9 months and I hadn’t met many photographers yet so the workshop gave me the opportunity to connect with a few talented babes local to LA.
Shortly after camp, Sammie, one of the talented, rad humans I met at HYPC invited me over to shadow, learn, and create with her during a styled shoot she had put together. It didn’t take much convincing on Sammie’s part to get me over to her house after she told me what she had planned. Even though I had a rough idea of how things would turn out based on her vision Sammie still blew me away with her attention to detail and style. It was a full day but I had a good time helping set everything up and shooting the models in the space.
